My Favourite Supplements for Optimal Health

People always ask me, do we really need to take supplements? Can't we get everything we need from food?

Although I absolutely advocate focusing primarily on food and ensuring we eat a balanced diet to get all the vital nutrients we need, sadly we cannot get everything we need from dietary intake in high enough quantities.

This is because due to the rise in industrial, chemical and non regenerative farming techniques, our soils are more depleted than ever before, meaning they do not contain the nutrients that they used to. Eating organic food will have highest amounts, but even this is still often not enough.

The increase in toxins in our environments, our often poor diets and lifestyles, along with higher levels of prolonged stress; mean that our bodies have a much higher demand for certain nutrients than ever before.

Therefore there are some key supplements that I like to use as an insurance policy for staying in optimum health.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

A good all round multivitamin and mineral complex.

*Please ensure that if you are taking any prescription medications to consult a professional physician or nutritionist before taking any supplements, to avoid any unpleasant interactions or side affects.

I see a lot of people dash to places like Holland and Barret or Boots to load up on supplement but I would caution against this until you have researched the right brands to trust.

The quality of supplements dictated how effective they are, which can vary greatly. There are many brands out there that use cheap varities of compounds which are hard to absorb and can often cause more harm than good. They often include cheap excipients such as fillers, binders and bulking agents that can be toxic to our health.
